At 20 years and 250 days old, Ben Kellaway became the seventh youngest bowler for Glamorgan County Cricket Club to take a five-wicket haul in a first-class match as he took 5/142 against Sussex at Hove. The youngster, who again alternated between off-breaks and left-arm spin during his 43 overs on the South Coast reached the milestone when he bowled Ollie Robinson. (writes Andrew Hignell)
As the list below shows, James Harris is the youngest overall taking 7/66 against Gloucestershire at Bristol in 2007 just a couple of days after his seventeenth birthday, whilst Kiran Carlson is the youngest spinner having taken 5/28 on his first-class debut at Northampton in 2016 at the age of 18 years and 107 days. Off-spinners Wilf Jones and George Shaw are the other spinners, who were younger than Ben, to take a five-for in first-class cricket, whilst Robert Croft claimed 5/62 a week before his 21st birthday against Warwickshire at Swansea in 1991. This means that Ben is the second youngest spinner in post-War cricket to achieve the feat for the Welsh county.
