STAT ATTACK - Chris Cooke is poised for a record-breaking appearance

30 May 2023 | Cricket

Chris Cooke is poised to beat the record set by Mark Wallace, his predecessor behind the stumps for Glamorgan, for the most number of appearances in T20 cricket for the Welsh county. (writes Andrew Hignell)

Chris has, so far, made 136 appearances for Glamorgan in T20 cricket - the same number as Mark, who during his own playing career with the Club scored 1,534 runs and claimed 53 catches as well as making 30 stumpings.

Chris made his debut in the white-ball competition in 2011. He played initially as a specialist batter and enjoyed an action-packed debut in the game at Cardiff against Middlesex, with Chris striking his second, third and fourth deliveries, bowled by South African Ryan McLaren, high over the boundary boards for six. Chris took over behind the stumps in 2017 following Mark’s retirement and he has, so far, scored 2,197 runs for the Club in T20 cricket, besides taking 83 catches and making 11 stumpings.

Wednesday’s match against Middlesex at Merchant Taylors’ School will therefore see Chris make a record-breaking 137th appearance for Glamorgan in T20 cricket.
