The SWelsh county's second innings total of 737 was a world record 614 runs higher than their first innings score of 123, beating the previous best of 591 set by Karachi Blues who made 111 and 702-7 against United Bank at Karachi in 2016/17. As far as domestic cricket in England is concerned, the previous biggest in the County Championship had been 551 by Middlesex who made 83 and 634-7 against Essex at Chelmsford in 1983. From a Glamorgan perspective, their previous difference had been 453 when they made 562-3 and 109 against Middlesex at Sophia Gardens in 1993.

Overall, Glamorgan’s second innings total of 737 was their second highest total in first-class cricket, surpassed by their mammoth 795-5dec against Leicestershire at Grace Road in 2022 and the second highest total at the ground in first-class cricket, surpassed only by Leicestershire who made 756-4dec in 2022.

It was also the highest-ever second innings score in the UK, beating Northamptonshire’s 712 against the Welsh county at Wantage Road in 1998, and the fifth highest overall worldwide, surpassed by:

770 New South Wales v South Australia at Adelaide, 2020/21
764 Bombay v Holkar at Bombay, 1944/45
761-8d New South Wales v Queensland at Sydney, 1929/30
754 KwaZulu Natal v Northerns at Durban, 2002/03

Glamorgan’s previous highest second innings total had been 577-4, against v Gloucestershire at Rodney Parade, Newport in 1939. Their total of 737 beat Glamorgan’s previous best against Sussex, set in 2000 at Colwyn Bay when the Welsh county made 718-3dec. It also beat their previous best on Sussex soil - 533-9d at Hove, 2022 - and their previous highest second innings total against Sussex which had been 466 at Hove in 2019.

From a bowling perspective, Jack Carson’s return of 2/216 was the most expensive in an innings against Glamorgan surpassing the 5/193 recorded by Danish Kaneria for Essex at Chelmsford in 2004. Sussex also bowled 207.5 overs - the most ever in an innings against the Welsh county surpassing the 196 overs delivered by Somerset at Rodney Parade, Newport, 1939.
