Michael Hogan claimed his 400th first-class wicket for Glamorgan on the opening day of the Welsh county’s LV=Insurance County Championship match against Lancashire at Sophia Gardens (writes Andrew Hignell).
The evergreen bowler, who celebrated his 40th birthday last weekend, came into this match with his tally for Glamorgan standing at 398. Keaton Jennings duly became Michael’s 399th victim in the fourth over as he was clean bowled before in the post-lunch session, Dane Vilas became his 400th wicket as he departed l.b.w.
Only Chris Rushworth of Durham and Middlesex’s Tim Murtagh have claimed more wickets than Michael in Championship cricket since his debut for Glamorgan against Northamptonshire at Cardiff on 10 April, 2013.
As the list below shows, Michael is the 22nd player to reach this landmark of 400 wickets in first-class cricket for Glamorgan. Only three others – Frank Ryan (India), Tony Cordle (Barbados) and Rodney Ontong (South Africa) – have been born overseas:
