During the final day of the LV=Insurance County Championship match against Yorkshire at Sophia Gardens, Kiran Carlson reached the personal landmark of 1,000 runs in a season for the first-ever time in his career (writes Andrew Hignell)

The Glamorgan captain came into the match against the White Roses with a seasonal tally of 912 first-class runs and after making 64 in Glamorgan’s first innings, he duly reached 1,000 runs for the season when reaching 24 in their second innings as he square drove Jordan Thompson.

In so doing, Kiran is the first Cardiff-born player since Hugh Morris in 1997 to score 1,000 runs in a season and the first Welsh-born batter since Will Bragg in 2016 to reach this landmark.

Kiran’s previous seasonal best aggregate was 928 first-class runs in 2021.
