Glamorgan were involved in a nail-biting finish at Headingley as their match against Yorkshire went to the very last ball of a gripping four-day contest with the home side’s final pair surviving the closing over from Michael Neser, and with all of the Welsh county’s fielders in close catching positions. This was the first-ever time that Yorkshire that been nine wickets down in the final innings of a Championship match against Glamorgan - something that the Welsh county have twice experienced in games against the Tykes with Glamorgan having been 109-9 in the draw with Yorkshire at Swansea in 1969 and 219-9 in the game at Sophia Gardens during 1992.

The most recent time that the Glamorgan bowlers had taken nine wickets in the fourth and final innings of a Championship match but were unable to take a tenth, and clinch a victory, had been in 2009 at Sophia Gardens when Gloucestershire ended the game on 281-9 with their last pair holding on for a draw.

The last time Glamorgan held on for a draw with nine wickets down in a Championship match came at Canterbury in 2015 as Kent reduced Glamorgan to 265-9 with David Lloyd playing out the final over of the game to help the Welsh county draw the game at the St. Lawrence ground.
