STAT ATTACK - Neser takes a hat-trick at Leeds

5 May 2023 | Cricket

Michael Neser claimed the first Championship hat-trick for Glamorgan since 2010 during a remarkable spell of 4/5 in 11 balls on the second morning of Glamorgan’s match against Yorkshire at Headingley, and in the process completed Glmaorga's best bowling figures for twenty years. (writes Andrew Hignell)

Michael removed Dawid Malan l.b.w. before both George Hill and Dom Bess shouldered arms to a pair of in-swingers and were bowled as the Australian recorded  the eleventh fhat-trick or Glamorgan in first-class cricket and the first against Yorkshire since 1962 when Jeff Jones recorded the feat at Harrogate, claiming the last two wickets in Yorkshire’s first innings and the first of their second.

His final figures of 7-32 were the best for Glamorgan in first-class cricket for twenty years and since Michael Kasprowicz took 9-45 against Durham at Chester-le-Street in 2003. They were also Glamorgan's best figures against Yorkshire since Don Shepherd took 9-48 at Swansea in 1965.
