After their washout at Taunton on Saturday night, Glamorgan head to Hove hoping for better weather and another victory as they meet the Sussex Sharks in their next contest in the Vitality Blast starting at 1900 on Tuesday evening (writes Andrew Hignell)
Glamorgan have lost six of their seven previous T20 matches at Hove, with the contest at Sussex’s headquarters in 2016 being declared a ‘No Result’ as rain swept in with the home side on 30-1 after 4.1 overs, chasing a target of 102, and five balls short of the minimum of five overs being needed to be bowled in order to constitute a match.
As the list below shows, Sussex have won the last four matches between the two teams, including both of the most recent matches at Hove in 2018 and 2019:
9 July, 2017 at Arundel - Glamorgan won by 18 runs
21 July, 2017 at The SSE SWALEC - No Result
8 July, 2018 at Sophia Gardens - Sussex won by 8 wickets
14 Aug, 2018 at Hove - Sussex won by 98 runs
6 Aug, 2019 at Hove - Sussex won by 9 wickets
26 Aug, 2019 at Sophia Gardens - Sussex won by 7 wickets
Glamorgan’s sole victory on Sussex soil came at Arundel in 2017 when Colin Ingram completed a 46 ball hundred – the fastest-ever in white-ball cricket for the Welsh county – with his record-breaking efforts coming during a third wicket stand of 130 with Jacques Rudolph which laid the foundations of an 18-run victory.
Colin’s century at Arundel in 2017 is one of six hundreds scored by Glamorgan batsmen in T20 cricket and is the highest for the Welsh county in the short format against Sussex. The game at Hove in 2010 saw Matt Prior score 117, which remains the highest-ever individual score by any batsman in T20 cricket against Glamorgan, with his boundary-laden century coming from 48 balls.
