James Taylor is relishing the challenge of trying to secure an ODI series win over Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates as the contest moves to Sharjah today.
A 95-run win in the second contest in Abu Dhabi sees England go into the game all square, and Taylor believes the tourists are indebted to the efforts of openers Alex Hales and Jason Roy.
Taylor's Nottinghamshire team-mate Hales made his maiden one-day international ton and Roy passed fifty as the pair added 102 for the first wicket.
All credit goes to Jason Roy and Alex Hales that set it up beautifully at the top, exceptional performances from them, Taylor told ecb.co.uk.
We've spoken about when you get in you have to kick on, get through those first 20 balls, and they did that and they set the platform perfectly.
The guys to follow did a great job as well and then the bowlers showed their talent and they performed exceptionally well and were able to restrict Pakistan and that made it into a great victory
I think the top five have all contributed which is crucial going into the next two big games.
The top five have all had plenty of time at the crease which is important, and more importantly the bowlers have done a great job - those seam bowlers and now the spin bowlers have come to the party as well, so I think everyone has had a really good workout on the tour and the series is all to play for with two really big games to come.
On Hales reaching three figures in an ODI for the first time, Taylor added: He played a great knock - him and Jason Roy were outstanding at the top of the order.
That will be massive for him and will give him confidence going forward.
He's obviously had a few struggles this year but what a performance that was; when the side needed it and he needed it he stepped up and it was a special knock - I'm sure he'll remember it for a while.
Taylor expects runs at the top of the order to remain crucial on a pitch that is expected to be slow and low.
However, the 25-year-old is relishing the opportunity for England to show that they can adjust to conditions which may not be entirely alien, with Taylor one of a number of players in the squad to have played a warm-up match and in the Test at the same venue.
We know how crucial having wickets in hand, especially over here, is, he continued.
They did exactly what they needed to do and they took it to the bowlers and they took down the spin which was really good to see.
We always want to play a positive brand of cricket and they epitomise it, those two. Not only did they take it to the bowlers but they set the platform beautifully.
I think it will be pretty slow and low and it will turn at some point.
We actually played the warm-up game here, so we've played the Test match, the warm-up game and now this ODI on the same wicket, so a few of us in the team will be used to it and we can relay exactly how it will play to the guys and what we think it will play like.
We've got a bit of experience on this ground and this pitch which will definitely help us.
It will be interesting, you never put any limiters on what score you can possibly get but it's going to be a good challenge and something we're really looking forward to.
England will return to The SSE SWALEC in Cardiff next year for the Royal London One-Day Internationals against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Adult tickets start at £35 with further discounts in place for families and under 17s. Click
