Captain Chris Cooke admitted Glamorgan were left chasing too many runs in their narrow four-run defeat to Gloucestershire in the Vitality Blast on Thursday.
Dan Douthwaite took 3/28, but some late big-hitting from Gloucestershire enabled them to reach 179/6, which proved to be too much for Glamorgan despite some Marnus Labuschagne heroics.
"It's not the best way to start the campaign, but there is still a lot of cricket to go and we're just getting started," said Cooke.
"We probably chased a few more than we would have liked and could have maybe bowled a little bit better coming out of the powerplay and towards the death, but their batters struck it really nicely and if one of us had just stuck with Marnus, we might have knocked it off."
Labuschagne made his T20 debut for the club and struck a T20 career-best 93 not out from just 56 balls in the defeat, with Cooke was full of praise for the Aussie star.
"Marnus played beautifully," added Cooke. "He picks off the pockets really well when he started and ran really well with great intensity, and at the end could expand his game and hit more boundaries. It was a really well constructed innings."
Glamorgan have a further three home games over the next week and welcome Essex Eagles to Sophia Gardens on Sunday, having named an unchanged squad for the fixture.
"Essex are always a strong team and these games come thick and fast and if you lose a game there's always one around the corner to try and bounce back, which is nice.
"The players know they've got three or four games in the squad to make a mark."
