Things haven't gone our way this year - Salter

Glamorgan fell to a seven-wicket defeat to Sussex Sharks last night, who secured a home quarter-final in the Vitality Blast.

The Welsh county posted 174/4 with half-centuries from Colin Ingram and Shaun Marsh, but despite all-rounder Andrew Salter taking 3/37, the away side cruised to victory with Alex Carey striking 61 from just 30 balls at the top of the innings.

"We were in the game at the halfway stage and the boys had a lot of good energy about them and we were all up for it, but they started well with the bat and in all fairness to Carey, he played really well and struck the ball nicely," said Salter.

"We got into a position where a couple of tight overs could have turned the game but it didn't happen and full credit to them, they played well at the back end and finished it off well.

"Things haven't gone our way this year and it's tough because we keep working hard and putting the effort in to get that first win but it hasn't happened for us.

"It's not through a lack of trying and we've had a couple of close games where we haven't quite managed to win but we have a game on Friday to put it all together."

Salter himself has had a productive Vitality Blast campaign, taking 14 wickets at an average of 16, which included career-best figures of 4/12 against Gloucestershire.

"I was excited to play some games and get in the mix so when the opportunity came about I really wanted to take it with both hands and try my best," added Salter.

"I'm working hard with the batsmen to try out different deliveries and trying to expand my game as much as possible."
