Glamorgan County Cricket Club is excited to announce the contract extension of seam bowler Timm van der Gugten for another three years.

Timm has been a standout contributor with the ball since joining the club in 2016, taking 268 wickets in 81 first-class matches so far for the Welsh county, with 13 five-wicket hauls.

The Netherlands International has also claimed 87 T20 wickets for Glamorgan so could be set to join the 100-wicket Club in next year’s competition.

The fast medium bowler’s outstanding new-ball spells this summer, especially in the Metro Bank One Day Cup, have been an important part of the Club’s sensational run to the Final at Trent Bridge. His accuracy and frugality were exceptional with 73% of his deliveries in this year’s competition being dot balls. Then his batting in the Final at Trent Bridge provided critical runs to help Glamorgan secure the 2024 Metro Bank One Day Cup title.

Glamorgan Director of Cricket, Mark Wallace said: ‘Timm has been a stalwart of our bowling attack for nearly a decade now and grown into one of the most accomplished new ball bowlers on the circuit.

“He is an outstanding role model and superb professional who has continued to seek improvements in his game throughout his time at the Club.

“We’re delighted to have him staying at the Club for his long-term future and look forward to Timm performing on the field for the club in the coming seasons.”

Van der Gugten is pleased to be extending his time at Glamorgan: “I’m very happy to be staying at Glamorgan for another three years and really excited with the direction the Club is going in.

“It’s been a great season and I’ve really enjoyed playing in all formats with the Metro Bank One Day Cup trophy win ending the season on a high.

“Cardiff has become home for my young family and we love living in Wales.”
