Glamorgan Head Coach Toby Radford was delighted with the side's performance under pressure at Tunbridge Wells last Friday, and says that the team will now be focussed on a big week of cricket for the club.
Glamorgan defeated Kent by 1 run at Tunbridge Wells on Friday night to keep alive hopes of qualifying for a quarterfinal berth.
Having posted 179/7, Glamorgan successfully defended the total by a single run, thanks to a run out from the final delivery of the match.
Toby Radford was very pleased with his side performance, saying: I am absolutely delighted, we knew it was going to be a big game, and we are trying desperately to qualify for the quarter finals, so this was a must win match.
Graham Wagg's innings was fantastic, scoring 53 from 28 balls, it got us up to that big score. We always thought that 180 would be a very competitive total.
If you take a couple of wickets or have a few tight overs, suddenly the batting side is under pressure, and that's exactly what we did.
Kent headed into the final over of the match requiring 15 to win, with Michael Hogan bowling the final over. The experienced seamer kept things tight to get the side home by just a solitary run, but Radford pinpoint a moment earlier in the match that made the difference.
Hogan bowled a great over near the end where he only went for one run and picked up two wickets too. It helped us to apply the pressure.
Glamorgan now face Gloucestershire in mist-win match in Cardiff on Friday night, and Radford is looking forward to the occasion.
Having won against Kent and scraped home, we've now got to win against Gloucestershire on Friday. We're in a similar situation to last year and hopefully we can come out on top. We'd love a quarter-final, it would be great for the club, team and the supporters.
Glamorgan know they must beat Gloucestershire on Friday and hope that results elsewhere fall into place to secure a quarter final.
