Timm van der Gugten toasted a career-best 5/79 on Day Three of Glamorgan\'s Specsavers County Championship match against Kent – and said the Welsh county could apply the pressure on Day Four.
The Netherlands international claimed his second first-class five-for in as many games, after taking 5/90 in Glamorgan's last four-day encounter with Essex at the end of May.
Van der Gugten said it was good to bowl on a pitch at The SSE SWALEC that was benefitting both bat and ball and spoke of his challenges switching between long and short formats.
His 5/79 included the wickets of Daniel Bell-Drummond, Joe Denly and Sean Dickson, giving Glamorgan a lead of 69 on the first innings.
He said: "I thought it was a pretty even day to be fair, we bowled well in clumps but when the ball goes soft, it's quite nice to bat out there, but we stuck at it and hopefully we can build a good lead.
"Before I came here, I'd only played three or four first-class games (in Australia and for the Netherlands) and it's been a good learning curve, playing a lot of cricket with not much recovery, and chopping and changing between the formats has been different as well, but the hard work is paying off."
Although time is running out for a result, van der Gugten insisted Glamorgan will be pushing hard on Day Four.
He added: "I think there's a bit of rain around (on day four), so it'll depend on that and how we start. Potentially we could set up the game for a good crack at them."
Glamorgan's Specsavers County Championship match against Kent concludes today, starting at 11am.
