Glamorgan\'s leading wicket-taker in this season\'s Specsavers County Championship Timm van der Gugten is desperate to be involved in a four-day victory, after his wickets ran the Welsh county close in a narrow defeat to Sussex last week.
Van der Gugten was rested for Glamorgan's win over Derbyshire and was on international duty for Netherlands while the Welsh county beat Worcestershire in the long format. He is named in a 12-man squad as Glamorgan take on Northamptonshire at Wantage Road this week (starting tomorrow at 11am).
The Dutchman has impressed since signing in February, taking 37 wickets in his debut County Championship season, and is keen to earn success for the team to go with his own personal triumphs.
He admitted it had been a steep learning curve in first-class cricket.
"It's been hard, if I'm honest, it's something completely foreign to me but I get to play a lot which is a bonus and hopefully I can get used to it next year," he said.
"It's been a bit of an up-and-down season, I've bowled well in patches, it's always good to get wickets but hopefully we can get a few more wins before the end of the season," he added.
Van der Gugten will hope to be involved in a Glamorgan victory at Northampton this week, as seventh meet eighth in the County Championship Division Two. After missing the Welsh county's two victories so far, a win would be extra-special for the 25-year-old.
He added: "I haven't been involved in a four-day win yet, every game I'm rested we seem to win, so hopefully I can be involved in one."
Scotland international Ruaidhri Smith is named in the Glamorgan squad, alongside the 11 players who featured in the two-wicket defeat to Sussex in Cardiff last week.
Glamorgan squad in full: Jacques Rudolph (capt.), Nick Selman, Will Bragg, David Lloyd, Aneurin Donald, Graham Wagg, Craig Meschede, Mark Wallace, Owen Morgan, Timm van der Gugten, Michael Hogan, Ruaidhri Smith.
Glamorgan's encounter with Northamptonshire gets underway tomorrow (Wednesday) at 11am.
