Graham Wagg was determined for Glamorgan to push Kent all the way for victory after hittng 83 to steer the Welsh county into a healthy position after Day Two.
Although around 24 hours have been lost due to weather, Wagg and Craig Meschede (78) guided Glamorgan to 351 all out and the ex-Derbyshire allrounder said the home side could make use of a pitch that is offering assistance to both bat and ball.
Wagg and Meschede added 160 in 33 overs to move Glamorgan from 137/6 into the clear.
Wagg said: "We were under pressure with six down but they went off their strategy of line and length, and it did give us a few scoring options- – we had to put the bad ball away, and Meschy (Meschede) played really well."
Wagg eventually fell, caught by James Tredwell at second slip 17 runs short of a century.
He added: "Disappointed not to get three figures, it was quite a loose shot, but at the start of the day we would have bitten their hand off to be in thisposition.
"There's plenty in that wicket, plenty of seam movement, and I think if we bowl as partnerships, there's ten wickets to be taken out there."
Glamorgan's four-day encounter against Kent resumes this morning, with the final day tomorrow (Wednesday).
