Glamorgan won the toss
Morning update
The Welsh county welcomed back Andy Carter as he joins for his second loan spell of the summer from Nottinghamshire. The fast bowler duly replaced David Lloyd from the side which defeated Surrey last week, whilst Jacques Rudolph and Will Bragg opened the batting as the Welsh county looked to record their fourth successive victory in this summer's competition - a feat they have achieved on eight previous occasions, and most recently in June 2004.
After opting to bat first, Glamorgan lost Rudolph in the third over as he edged a delivery from Clint McKay into Niall O'Brien's gloves with just five runs on the board. Next over, Bragg upper-cut a delivery from Ben Raine high over the slip cordon for four before square-cutting the Australian. But in McKay's next over, Bragg was run out by Raine as he tried to scamper a single with Ben Wright, and 19/2 then became 23/3 as Colin Ingram drove his second delivery from McKay low to cover where Tom Wells completed a good low catch.
Chris Cooke began by cover driving Charlie Shreck for four before clipping McKay to backward point for a second boundary. Wright also on-drove and off-drove successive balls from Shreck for four. Wright then guided Shreck through backward point for four as the 50 came up in the 14
th over. Jigar Naik's spin was introduced shortly afterwards and in his third over, he trapped Ben Wright leg before.
Craig Meschede began with a trio of fours against Shreck - two through point and via mid-on, before he nearly edged the spinner to first slip. He then celebrated his good fortune by lofting the off-spinner high over long-on for six.
Cooke completed his 50 from 99 balls
Teatime update
Chris Cooke calmly brought up the hundred by cover driving Jigar Naik for four in the third over of the afternoon session, before a couple of overs later completing a 99-ball fifty as he punched the spinner off the back foot through the covers. With Clint McKay off the field, Ben Raine resumed the bowling at the Cathedral Road End and he duly made the breakthrough as in the fifth over of his probing spell he had Craig Merschede l.b.w. for 24.
Mark Wallace then clipped Tom Wells to the ropes at mid-wicket before Cooke drove the same bowler through the covers. Wallace then repeated the stroke against Raine before McKay returned and with his sixth delivery clean bowled the Glamorgan wicket-keeper as Glamorgan slipped to 136/6.
Cooke then greeted the return of Naik by drilling his first two deliveries through the covers for four before Graham Wagg got off the mark by despatching the spinner to wide long-on before lofting him over long-off for a massive six. Cooke also sparred at a rising delivery from McKay and sent the ball through the gap between slip and gully for four, whilst Wagg nearly ended the Australian to Andrea Agathangelou at second slip.
Cooke then unfurled a spariling cover drive against McKay before Graham Wagg swatted Charlie Shreck over the head of cover point for four. But the tall bowler then ended Cooke's innings as, on 84, he inside-edged a delivery onto his stumps. 180/7 saw Andrew Salter join Wagg and after a couple of singles he pulled Shreck to fine-leg for four. But in the next over, he edged Tom Wells to second slip. Shreck then clean bowled Michael Hogan before Wagg harpooned Wells for a pair of sixes high over mid-wicket. McKay returned and was also pulled for six by Wagg as Wells nearly held onto the ball in a bid to end Wagg's merry run spree.
Wagg then cut McKay for four to complete a 53-ball fifty before leg-glancing the Australian for two and then pulling a long-hop from McKay for another huge six.He then drilled McKay to long-on for four before the players went to tea.
Wagg struck 94 from 113 balls with 7 fours and 6 sixes
Evening update
Tea had been delayed by thirty minutes as Graham Wagg repeated his batting pyrotechnics from Guildford last week. A combination of lusty swipes and textbook drives had seen the in-form number 8 reach 68* by tea, as well as surviving some cat-and-mouse tactics from Mark Cosgrove as the visiting captain tried to lure Wagg off-strike.
It was certainly round one to Wagg as Glamorgan resumed on 242/9 and just two boundary strikes away from an unexpected second batting point. Ben Raine nearly ended the all-rounder's run spree with his second delivery but Mark Cosgrove at mid-off could not quite grasp onto the drive. Wagg then drilled Shreck through the covers for four before cutting Raine for two bring up the 250 and a second batting point. Wagg then showed that there is finesse as well as force in his armoury as he deftly glanced Raine for four to fine-leg.
Wagg played with great circumspection when Andrea Agathangelou's leg-spin was then re-introduced before he drilled Raine over long-off for six followed by a coruscating drive through mid-off for four. Carter then cover drove Agathangelou for successive fours before but Wagg's innings ended as he drove Raine to Cosgrove at mid-off.
Angus Robson began by driving Wagg for two fours in the all-rounder's opening over before Matthew Boyce drove Wagg for four, but in Hogan's third over, Robson chopped the ball onto his stumps. 18/1 saw Ned Eckersley arrive in the middle despite having spent much of the afternoon off the field with a badly bruised digit after trying to stop a booming drive by Cooke. Boyce continued to live dangerously as edged drives against Hogan bisected third slip and gully, as well as first and second slip.
Eckersley showed no discomfort by clipping Andy Carter to mid-wicket for four before playing fluently against Andrew Salter as Glamorgan introduced spin in the closing overs.
