Stand-in captain Mark Wallace hailed Glamorgan\'s endurance and focus, despite a long day in the field at Hove in the County Championship yesterday.
Glamorgan's fielders looked on as Sussex amassed 552/5 declared on a flat Hove pitch, with Luke Wells (181) and Ben Brown (159 not out) dominating proceedings.
Debutant Owen Morgan took two wickets and bowled 42 overs as Glamorgan's bowlers kept plugging in the absence of the injured Michael Hogan. Regular captain Jacques Rudolph was also off the field after being struck on the hand.
Wallace, speaking to the media at the end of a tough day, said the Welsh county stuck at their task excellently.
He said: "We had a long five sessions out there, especially today when it was hard work against two very good batsmen in Wells and Brown.
"But I thought we stuck at it well. You know that during the season you are going to have days like that but it wasn't too bad. Put it this way, there are worse things to be doing than fielding for a day by the seaside!
"I thought Owen Morgan bowled superbly on debut, he played as if he was a veteran and that was a real positive for us."
Wallace is not out 9 overnight and will be looking to bat out for a draw on Day Four today. Glamorgan lost Nick Selman LBW to Steve Magoffin at the end of the day, finishing 30/1.
He added: "It's a good pitch and hopefully we continue to be so tomorrow. We've got some hard work ahead of us but we're pretty confident we can bat through and draw the game."
Glamorgan's Specsavers County Championship clash with Sussex resumes this morning at 11am.
