Jacques Rudolph has called for Glamorgan to take their chances and exert early pressure in their clash with Gloucestershire which starts tomorrow.
Glamorgan travel to Bristol for the Specsavers County Championship match, looking to end a run of four games without a win.
Rudolph said: "From a team point of view we came into the season with very high expectations considering our performances last year.
"In the first four games it hasn't gone quite to plan but I think there’s still a very positive vibe in our dressing room and hopefully we can get a bit of momentum going in Bristol."
After rueing some missed chances in defeats to Leicestershire and Kent, captain Rudolph wants Glamorgan to grab their opportunities when they come in Bristol.
He added: "Catches have gone to hand and we’ve dropped them – it’s been a bit of a pattern over the last few games.
"It’s difficult for us to put teams under pressure, especially in the first couple of sessions, when you don’t hold onto your catches. It’s perhaps just about mental focus, making sure we’re switched on in the game."
Gloucestershire have lost one and drawn three of their opening four matches but Rudolph says Glamorgan will be concentrating on their own performance.
"In Dent and Marshall they’ve got two experienced batters who are also in good form," he said.
"But at this stage of the season it’s important that we focus on what we can control and not to be focussed on the opposition too much.
"If we can win a few games we might find ourselves back into contention for the top. It’s a long season and hopefully we can walk away with a win on Wednesday."
The County Championship match at The Brightside Ground, Bristol, starts tomorrow at 11am.
