We feel like we're playing some decent cricket - Maynard

Head coach Matt Maynard was left with mixed emotions following Glamorgan's draw against Yorkshire in the LV= Insurance County Championship.

Maynard felt his team played some 'decent cricket' in the match but was left frustrated by the weather and his side's failure to capitalise when they reduced the away side to 111/8 in their first innings.

"We're really disappointed that the weather has curtailed this game, and the game before, but it was great to see an enterprising innings from Kiran again, adding another 40-odd runs to his overnight score.

"We feel like we're playing some decent cricket, but we did let them off the hook from having them 111/8 and dropping a catch that cost us a hundred runs.

"But I'm delighted with how we're playing, we've got to find a slightly better way of playing if we get inserted on a pitch that is like this.

"The ground staff are preparing the wickets the same every time, but obviously the moisture that was around before the game made it a bowl-first wicket and so it was quite tricky, but we have to find a way to adapt."

Batsman Kiran Carlson finished the match unbeaten on 88 and has now scored 552 runs in the LV= County Championship this season, putting him in 2nd place in the run scoring charts across the competition. Maynard was quizzed whether England Lions selection may be on the cards for the talented 23-year-old.

"Kiran has had a fantastic start to the season, he is a wonderful player, he is very positive, you can see that in his movements. He’s just got to concentrate on the next match and that’s Kent and try and get as many runs there.

"Things like the England Lions, selections are totally out of his hands. Sometimes you can get caught up in stuff like that but it is important not to and just focus on what he can do for Glamorgan."
