Despite Dan Douthwaite and James Weighell propelling Glamorgan from 76/6 to 170/8 with some lusty hitting, Middlesex were able to chase down the Welsh county's total with 14 balls to spare.
The pair put on 88 for the 7th wicket in just 7.5 overs with both batsman hitting maiden T20 half-centuries as they launched a series of huge blows. Douthwaite also took 2/27 but Stephen Eskinazi hit a fine unbeaten 91 to steer Middlesex to victory
“We came into a tough situation and when we started to get going initially, 140-150 was the target, so we were really happy to get ourselves to 170 and we were confident with that," said Douthwaite.
“But probably not nailing it with the ball, then Eskinazi and the rest of them batting really nicely, that’s quite a tough one to take. Credit where credit’s due – I think Eskinazi in particular made it look a completely different deck.
“It’s always going to be a big miss when you’re without someone like Marnus (Labuschagne) and Selman has been really good for us stepping in at the top and playing the role he has, so to miss two of our most successful batsmen this season wasn’t going to be easy.
“We know we need to win just about every game from now on, we can’t afford to drop any points.”
