Glamorgan bowler Michael Hogan says changing conditions and rustiness as a bowling unit were factors on the first day of play against Kent at The SSE SWALEC.
The momentum in the match swung first to Kent, before the home team fought back and then lost four wickets in the final session of the day as the ball started swinging around again as the day wore on.
The home team finished the day on 65/4 in reply to Kent's 309 all out, but they had been 212/2.
The conditions changed when the clouds came in, we felt it got flat at times and then it started swinging around again, said Hogan.
We were probably rusty as a bowling unit in the first session and a half, as we haven't played for a while.
We were quite expensive going for four and a half runs an over for a while, so to drag that back was good work.
In the back end of the day we picked up some wickets and bowled really tightly.
Glamorgan's young top order were unable to build a platform as Kent did, with Colin Ingram joining Lawlor, Kettleborough and David Lloyd back in the dressing room before the end of play, but Hogan feels there's still quality in the Glamorgan batting line-up to get the runs needed.
It's tough here against the new ball, the guys we picked have done the business in the second team but hopefully they can get it right in the second innings and score some big runs.
The boys down the order have been doing a good job, Waggy and Craig Meschede have scored some runs and everyone's in the side to bat. We're still in the game.
