We've come back from similar situations before - Maynard

With some fighting efforts in previous games against Gloucestershire and Derbyshire, Glamorgan found themselves with their backs against the wall after the first innings against Sussex but Marnus Labuschagne (77*) and Nick Selman (45*) produced a gutsy century stand to see Glamorgan through to close of play just one wicket down.

Head coach Matt Maynard was impressed by some of the guts on display by his team and was bullish on what his team needs to do on Day 3.

"I thought we did well in the end to knock them over for 420," said Maynard. "We made really good use of the second new ball."

"Nick Selman and Marnus Labuschagne showed the same resilience we have shown in a couple of games already this season and they will need to show a bit more tomorrow.

"They have outplayed us for much of the game so far but we've come back from similar situations and put the opposition under pressure on days three and four and if we can get past their lead with two or three wickets down tomorrow then I think it will be a really good finish.

"There is still a heck of a lot of hard work to be done but we need to get a sizeable lead to give ourselves a chance on what is a very good cricket wicket."
