Match Preview

Worcestershire are currently in second place in the Division Two table, one point behind leaders Hampshire and twenty points ahead of Glamorgan who remain, after their draw earlier in the week at Bristol against Gloucestershire, in fourth place with Surrey having leap-frogged above the Welsh county into third spot after defeating Derbyshire at The Kia Oval.

In last summer's match at New Road, Moeen Ali completed a superb 250 at the picturesque ground adjacent to the River Severn, with his efforts helping Worcestershire to enforce the follow-on as they bowled out Glamorgan twice before easing to an eight-wicket victory. The England batsman, fresh from his maiden Test hundred earlier this week at Headingley against Sri Lanka, has been given permission by the ECB to appear in this year's match at Worcester's headquarters.

Glamorgan's most recent victory at New Road came in April 2010, with the Welsh county overwhelming Worcestershire by nine wickets after David Harrison had taken 7/45 in their first innings whilst James Harris took 5/56 in their second innings.

The two sides have already met this summer in the County Championship with the contest in early May at the SWALEC Stadium ending all square in a draw after visiting captain Daryl Mitchell scored a century in each innings.
