Wounded Warrior Wagg Will Bat If Required

All-rounder Graham Wagg took a bouncer to the outside of his left forearm, whilst batting in Glamorgan’s first innings on day 2 of the current Specsavers Championship match at Bristol.

He retired hurt prematurely ending a chanceless 100-run partnership with David Lloyd that gave Glamorgan a first innings lead, but which could have been more significant.

X-rays showed no break to the arm, but it quickly became very swollen, so Wagg was unable to bowl during Gloucestershire second innings, limiting the Glamorgan attack as Gloucestershire set the Welsh county a target of 268 to win.

“Graham suffered a rather severe muscle contusion to his forearm when batting,” said Glamorgan Physio Mark Rausa. “We worked on it all day yesterday to get his range of movement and strength back to enable him to return to the field of play at the earliest opportunity.

“He’s still having trouble holding a bat, but will go in if required at the end of the Glamorgan innings.”
