Spectators with disabilities

Sophia Gardens Cardiff provides a venue which caters for all of our visitor's needs. It is our intent to provide information about the accessibility, the facilities we have in place and the use. Glamorgan Cricket is a proud member of the Level Playing Field organisation.

Access

There are three accessible entrances to Sophia Gardens Cardiff via Gate Two, Gate Four and Gate Five. All-access entrances listed above are on a level surface with either a tarmac or a briquette surface. The accessible entrance will be event-dependent, so it is advised to check when booking which entrance would be best suited to your requirements.

Our Disability Liaison Officer will be able to assist prior to your phone call or email info@glamorgancricket.co.uk if you have any queries. On your arrival, on-site stewards will be on hand to assist where required.


Viewing Areas

Accessible viewing areas are located in different areas around the stadium. These include:
• In front of the CM.com Stand
• In front of the Members' Stand
• Elevated viewing platform at the back of the Castell Howell Stand – access via lift.


Ambulant Disabled

There are no specific areas of the ground that facilitate access for the ambulant disabled, however, there are lots of seats which can be accessed easily by those persons using crutches, sticks or walking frames. Please call 02930 419311 for more information before you book your tickets.


Parking Arrangements

A number of accessible parking bays are available for every match day on a reservation basis and are allocated by application. Allocation of accessible parking bays will be addressed on an event-by-event basis. Please ensure your request is submitted within 5 working days of the fixture. Parking Passes (QR codes) will be sent via email. Guests wishing to use this facility are requested to be parked 60 minutes in advance of an event and required to stay in place until 30 minutes before the final ball for the safety of spectators travelling on foot. This may differ depending on the event type.

Toilet Facilities

Toilet facilities for disabled spectators are all easily accessible around the ground. All toilets have been secured via the use of a Radar key to prevent misuse. Many of our stewards will be holding a RADAR key for access to any accessible toilet/changing places room on site, and a steward will always be present near these facilities. A key will also be available at the Reception desk.

We now have a Changing Places Toilet located on the Castell Howell concourse.


Refreshment Facilities

Refreshment facilities will be available on all match days held at the stadium but locations and vendors may differ from event to event, depending on crowd numbers and availability.


Pricing Policy

For Sophia Gardens-controlled events, each disabled spectator will pay the full price for tickets with one companion (if required) admitted for free. Where control over the availability of event tickets does not reside with Sophia Gardens Cardiff, the pricing policy will be managed by the event promoter.


Stewarding for Disabled Spectators

Our stewards are more than happy and readily available to assist spectators in accessing the venue. For larger fixtures and events, a dedicated team of accessibility stewards will be at your service and easily identifiable in their pink hi-vis vests.


Emergency Evacuation

Evacuation procedures for the Stadium are in place and managed by the Safety Officer and matchday stewards in the event that evacuation is necessary. Procedures are also in place to assist disabled spectators, and we kindly request that the directions of the stewards be followed at all times.

The Stadium has installed evacuation chairs in each building to ensure the safety of spectators with accessibility requirements during an evacuation.


Assistance Dogs

The Stadium is happy to accommodate assistance dogs for fixtures and events. Please get in touch with us via info@glamorgancricket.co.uk for any enquiries regarding this.


Wheelchairs

The Stadium has a limited number of wheelchairs on site to provide easy, escorted access to seats.

Stadium wheelchairs cannot be pre-booked or booked for the whole event as they must be available to use at all times. Spectators wishing to hire wheelchairs in Cardiff can do so via St. David's Shopping Centre Mobility Service. 


Picturepath

Glamorgan CCC has partnered with Picturepath to improve accessibility and inclusivity for visitors with additional needs. The app enables spectators to create personalised timelines, helping reduce anxiety when attending a new venue. For more details, visit the link here: https://mypicturepath.com/
