Full name: Kiran Shah Carlson
Place of birth: Cardiff
Right-hand batter, Right-arm off-break bowler
Batter Kiran Carlson made a dramatic first-class debut for Glamorgan against Northamptonshire at Wantage Road in 2016 – with the ball: taking 5/28 with his occasional off-breaks, the best-ever figures on debut by a spin bowler for Glamorgan.
But it is as a batter and the captain of Glamorgan’s Royal London One-Day Cup winning side in 2021 that Kiran has become better known – although he still also bowls for the county.
It took Kiran just two weeks after his “five for” against Northamptonshire to score his maiden first-class century for Glamorgan – against Essex at Chelmsford, becoming the youngest-ever Glamorgan centurion in the process. And the runs have been flowing ever since.
Appointed one-day captain in 2021, Kiran led Glamorgan as they stormed to the 50-over title, beating Durham in the Final at Trent Bridge.
