It was another successful couple of weekends for Glamorgan cricketers in the South Wales Men & Women's Premier Leagues, with some top scores and quality bowling performances on a scorching followed by wet weekend of club cricket in South Wales, with premier club cricket soon resuming post a short break in North Wales.
Callum Nicholls top-scored across the country with a stunning 182 not out for St. Fagans CC against Swansea CC at St. Helen's, but it was at Usk CC where scoring records broke. The hosts put on 426 in their 50 overs, with Cardiff UCCE batter Harawal Wassam Ahmed top-scoring with 156 not out, along with a fast-paced 97 from Billy Root. Zain ul Hasan starred for Newport CC with the ball, picking up a 5-wicket-haul against Abergavenny CC.
On Weekend 12, Tom Bevan headlined the show with a sensational 162 off just 90 balls for Ammanford CC's big 301-run chase against Usk CC. Former Glamorgan player Jeremy Lawlor too-scored on Saturday across Wales with a a knock of 158 against Pontarddulais CC, who were bowled out for 86 in their attempt to chase 305, courtesy of Wales National County fast bowler Ollie Sherwood's 5-wicket-haul. Bridgend Town CC beat Abergavenny CC by 4 wickets in a solid team performance, while Cardiff CC recorded a massive 217-run win against Swansea CC, with Rabi Noor's 5-24 leading the wicket-taking charts.
In the women's South Wales Premier League, Newport CC beat Cardiff CC by 7 wickets thanks to Glamorgan captain Lauren Parfitt's knock of 79*, along with Georgia Parfitt who also scored a half-century for the Spytty Park-based club.
