Glamorgan accept ECB penalty after guilty plea

10 Aug 2015 | Cricket
Glamorgan County Cricket Club Chief Executive Hugh Morris has accepted the findings of the Cricket Disciplinary Commission after they levelled a fine and a points deduction following the umpires' decision to abandon the Royal London One-Day Cup match against Hampshire.
The Club pleaded guilty to the charge of producing an unfit pitch and re-affirmed a commitment to take immediate investigative and remedial work.

Glamorgan have been stripped of the point they gained from the 'no result' with both points awarded to Hampshire. In addition, Glamorgan have had two further points deducted from their RLODC 2015 tally and been fined £9,000, of which £5,000 is suspended until the end of the 2016 season.

Glamorgan are now in 8th position in the Group B table on 2 points, with two games to go in this year's campaign.

Our internal investigation is ongoing and we are committed to taking whatever action is necessary to ensure that we produce the best possible pitches for the rest of this season and beyond, said Morris.

We will provide a further update when we are in a position to draw firm conclusions.

The ECB has confirmed that they will use the receipt of the fine to compensate Hampshire supporters who travelled to the match.
