Glamorgan CCC support Tommys Cancer Charity

Former England and Glamorgan cricketer Steve Watkin took time out of his coaching duties to present a signed Glamorgan CCC shirt to to Tommy’s charity fundraiser Heidi Rayward for auction.

Tommy’s raises money to fund vital research into the prevention of baby loss in pregnancy and premature birth.

Fellow Glamorgan Coach and former England A cricketer Dave Harrison, ex Glamorgan cricketer and TVS Education teacher Adam Harrison with TVS Education’s Head of Education Dave Lutton joined Steve and Heidi for the presentation. Glamorgan and TVS Education began a new partnership at the start of the academic year as the BTEC Sport Studies education programme for  16 – 19 year olds began at The SSE SWALEC.

"The Club is honoured to support Tommy’s in this way," said David Harrison. "It is subject that is often not fully discussed and to be able to support a charity that is looking to reduce the emotional pain of losing a child in pregnancy is fantastic."

TVS Education’s Dave Lutton added: "I really appreciate the support of Glamorgan County Cricket Club for this charity. Heidi is a close friend who has benefited from the support the charity offers, and to see the passion in which she now raises funds for the charity is humbling.

“We are so grateful to Glamorgan County Cricket Club for such a generous gift this Christmas," said Danae Leaman-Hill, Tommy’s Director of Fundraising. "The amazing efforts of fundraising heroes like Heidi saves babies lives - funding our four research centres in the UK and providing vital advice and support for parents-to-be. The work we do helps families all across the UK and we couldn’t do it without you, thank you!”
