Glamorgan players and staff deliver Christmas presents Supporting Families in the Cost of Living Crisis

12 Dec 2023 | Community

This week several of our players and coaches represented the club in helping give out many Christmas presents to schools' families who are in dire need of help during the cost-of-living crisis.

Many families are struggling to pay for energy and food costs which means that some children can go without at this time of year. Staff across both Glamorgan and Cricket Wales had donated to this scheme which included other sports bodies like FAW and Disability Sport Wales.

A scheme organised by Phil Draper and in partnership with Save the Children Cymru has meant that at least 250 children will be guaranteed a present this Christmas. Save the Children have supported the scheme to make sure that the neediest families get this support.

Glamorgan Cricket helped act as a presents store for donating organisations, however, it was heartening to see so many contributions from our two cricket bodies.

Thanks to James Harris, Richard Almond, David Harrison, Tom Gilpin, Harry Podmore and Steve Watkin from the staff as well as Ruth McDonald from Save the Children Cymru. The two schools that the players visited are Hywel Dda Primary School and Herbert Thompson Primary School.
