Glamorgan CCC were invited to an Aston Martin experience day at Millbrook this week to celebrate their ongoing partnership with the luxury sports car manufacturer.
The team drove various Aston Martin cars including the Vantage S and Vanquish in different environments.
The tracks included the mile straight which saw all-rounder David Lloyd and fast bowler Marchant de Lange record a top speed of an incredible 167mph.
“We’ve had a great day and we’re very lucky to have Aston Martin on board supporting Welsh cricket,” said batsman Aneurin Donald.
“We’re all driving cars we won’t get a chance to drive very often through our careers and lives so it’s been quite an experience and the boys were loving it. There are a few petrol-heads in the dressing room so it’s been a day to cherish.”
David King, Aston Martin Chief Special Operations Officer said “It was great to give the Glamorgan team an insight into the world of Aston Martin and our cars, and fascinating to see the nerves, enthusiasm and excitement of the players as they went into the unknown limits of track driving. I hope the experience will boost them to even higher achievements on the pitch as they head into the quarter finals of the Nat West T20 Blast next week”.
“Aston Martin partnered with Glamorgan and Cricket Wales as part of their move to Wales and St. Athan,” added Huw Mitchell, Commercial Partnerships Manger at Glamorgan.
“It’s been a fantastic relationship for us because a brand as prestigious as Aston Martin doesn’t come around very often and now they have pride of place on our collars.
“For the team to come to Millbrook and have such a unique experience is incredible and helps strengthen our partnership even further.”
Aston Martin Lagonda entered into a three-year partnership with the Welsh County and Cricket Wales earlier this year with the partnership including support for the GCCC first team as well as the age-grade teams from Cricket Wales.
