Colin Ingram has hit the top spot in the PCA\'s most valuable player leaderboard for the Royal London One Cup after taking his career-best List A bowling figures 4-39 and scoring 53 off 57 balls against Middlesex today to back up his highest List A top score of 142 against Essex last time out.
Ingram is now 5th in the overall player ranking and has accumulated 97 points from 6 games in the RLODC ladder which matches his end of season tally for the 2015 season in the same competition. He has removed Durham's Keaton Jennings from pole position as he looks to improve upon his seventh placing in last year's player ranking for the tournament.
With family and fitness issues to balance, Ingram has a hectic schedule, which includes playing for the Warriors in South Africa, but he is keen to play to his strengths. The former Warriors captain signed a two year white ball only contract extension with the Welsh county last week as he continues to enjoy the challenge of county cricket, but has eyes on the world stage.
"To make sure I can play as much of my strongest formats, 50-over cricket and T20, is important to me so I'm really grateful to the club and thrilled to be coming back.
"It's been really tough playing 12 months of the year, and still living back home in South Africa, so I'll spend a little extra time there.
"But I'd like to get out there as well, experience a bit of what is on the world stage, so hopefully some opportunities come up and I can grab those."
The IPL and Australia's Big Bash are currently seen as the most successful domestic T20 tournaments in world cricket, in attracting huge crowds.
"The IPL is not high on my agenda at the moment, but you never know down the line," Ingram said.
"Everyone talks about the IPL, but when you commit to play in the UK the IPL is of lesser importance, I've always wanted to play county cricket" said Ingram.
"It's obviously a wonderful tournament, they get all the best players in from around the world and it's really well marketed.
"But I'm fortunate I'm not massively money-driven, I just want to do the right thing, earn a good living and play the game that I enjoy."
"For now it's nice to have something secure to come back to, playing for Glamorgan for the next few years."
Injury prevented Colin from playing four-day Championship cricket last summer, and the South African international underwent knee surgery last August, but has returned to play all formats for Glamorgan in 2017.
