Michael Kasprowicz, the former Glamorgan and Australia fast bowler, was the first speaker of the year in the popular series of winter talks arranged by the CC4 Museum of Welsh Cricket on Monday 11 January.
Speaking via ZOOM from his home in Brisbane, he outlined his early days as a sportsman, mixing cricket with rugby where he played in the second row, besides having Dennis Lillee and Jeff Thomson as his role models. He reflected on his time in Test cricket, including the 1997 and 2005 Ashes series – as well as his career in county cricket with Essex, Leicestershire and Glamorgan, with whom he won the National League titles in 2002 and 2004.
You can share his reminiscences of appearing in the Commonwealth Games and Jonah Lomu, the All Blacks rugby legend, the real secret behind his success in twice taking nine-wickets in an innings against Durham in Championship matches during 2003, as well as his pride in seeing Simon Jones progress to the England team, and his roles recently as President of the Australian Players’ Association and being a Board Member of Cricket Australia.
