Museum Open Evening - March 19th @7pm

29 Feb 2020 | Cricket

A special Open Evening will take place in the CC4 Museum of Welsh Cricket on Thursday, 19th March starting at 7.00pm.

The free-of-charge evening will be both a celebration and a commemoration as the final event in the popular series of winter functions held in the Museum on the first floor of the National Cricket Centre at Glamorgan Cricket’s headquarters at Sophia Gardens.

Thanks to the family and friends of Malcolm Nash, as well as Abergavenny Cricket Club, a selection of Malcolm’s personal memorabilia has been loaned to the Museum for the forthcoming season and the first selection of material relating to the late player’s illustrious county career is now on display in the Museum. Members of Malcolm’s family, including his daughter Amba, as well as members of Abergavenny CC will be present at the Open Evening which will include a short tribute and film about Malcolm's days with Glamorgan and his outstanding career.

The evening will also include a short film about the county and international cricketers to have played for Abergavenny CC as well as showcasing the new Museum of Welsh Cricket website, which includes a range of information about cricket clubs throughout Wales, and a range of archive images from long-established clubs such as Abergavenny CC.

The website also contains a section where members and supporters of Glamorgan Cricket can leave their memories and recollections, and the Open Evening will contain further information about how the gathering of this oral history will take place.

Finally, to help prompt these reminiscence activities the Club’s new Library will also be open on the evening of 19th March. Thanks to generous financial support from the Heritage Fund, a series of new bookcases and storage areas have been created within the Museum and those attending the Open Evening will have an opportunity to browse through a selection of books and other items from the Club’s collection.
