Museum Talks 2016/17

The first batch of popular talks in the CC4 Museum of Welsh Cricket has been finalised at The SSE SWALEC from September through to December 2016.

The programme will commence on Wednesday, September 28th at 7.30pm with a talk by Richard Almond of Glamorgan CCC, together with some of the Club's younger players from the Academy, entitled “The Next Generation”. The talk will look at the next generation of Glamorgan cricketers, besides outlining the work at grass roots in nurturing new talent..

On Wednesday, October 19th at 7.30pm Graham Burgess, the former Somerset cricketer will look back on the end-of-the-season Sunday League match against Glamorgan in 1976, besides discussing his coaching work at Monmouth School and with Welsh age-group teams.

On Wednesday, November 9th at 7.30pm there will be “An Evening with Michael Hogan” as the Australian-born seam bowler discusses his county career with Glamorgan, and looks ahead to the future with the Welsh county.

The schedule for 2016 concludes on Wednesday, December 7th at 7.30pm with an Xmas Quiz Night. This will be a repeat of the popular quiz night from last Spring with a chance for Glamorgan supporters to celebrate the Festive season with a quiz and curry night in the Museum.

The Quiz Night will be £10 per person (to include a free drink and curry).

Each of the other talks will be £3 in advance for current Glamorgan members or £4 on the door on the night. For non-members, it’s £4 in advance or £5 on the door (Price includes complimentary tea and coffee).  Tickets can be purchased from Reception in the Discover Leeks Pavilion during normal office hours. Please enquire about parking when purchasing your ticket.

There is an additional talk on Monday, November 14th when Dr. Andrew Hignell will be speaking at Glamorgan Archives (CF11 8AW) on the history of cricket in Wales. Andrew’s talk is entitled “From Meadowland to Moneyspinner” and will start at 6pm. Entrance is free of charge, with a light buffet also included, together with tea and coffee.

Further talks in the CC4 Museum of Welsh Cricket are planned for January, February and March 2017.
