Nottinghamshire all-rounder Samit Patel has joined Glamorgan on loan for the rest of this season’s Specsavers County Championship.
Patel will be available for the Welsh county’s four remaining Specsavers County Championship fixtures, starting with the home match against Lancashire at Colwyn Bay tomorrow.
The 34-year-old has a strong First-Class record, scoring 12,295 runs at an average of nearly 36, which includes 26 centuries. He has also taken 332 First-Class wickets with his left-arm spin.
Patel has made 60 international appearances for England, which includes six Test matches where he has a top score of 42.
New loan signing, Samit Patel, said: “I’m really looking forward to the challenge and can’t wait to work with Matt Maynard and his team.
“I’ve been really impressed by the way Glamorgan have performed this year in the County Championship.
“Hopefully I can put in some strong performances for the side and help them gain promotion back into Division One.”
Director of cricket, Mark Wallace, said: “We are delighted to bring in Samit on loan for the rest of the season.
“He brings a lot of experience to the squad which could prove vital as we get to the business end of the competition.
“Samit is a fine batsman who has played match-winning knocks throughout his career and with Kieran Bull still working his way back from injury and Marnus Labuschagne away with Australia, it also gives us an extra spin bowling option.”
