On Sunday afternoon at Sophia Gardens Cardiff, 140 women donned a series of bright t-shirts to play in a finale which celebrate over 40 festivals that have been played the length and breadth of Wales this summer.
Over 1,000 individual women and girls have taken part this summer across Wales and Sunday’s event was the largest single Women's festival across England and Wales in 2018!
The international cricket stadium at Sophia Gardens Cardiff, which the previous night had been a concert venue for a large crowd of ABBA fans, was transformed back to cricket to see a colourful and excited gathering of women and girls having a great experience on the hallowed turf.
Teams had enrolled from all over Wales including the North with Dolgellau and all parts of Wales including Ynystawe, Radyr, Clydach, Blackwood, Bridgend, Gorseinon, Lisvane, Malpas, Sudbrook, and Cardiff Nuggets with several current and former international netballers.
The final was played indoors after a deluge towards the end of the semi-finals with Newbridge Newts and Creigiau Chiefs competing an exciting final, where the games was lost and won several times in the last over! Our thanks to ACM South East, Huw Darling and competition organisers Rebecca Thomas and Ffion Wynne.
