Former England spinner Graeme Swann has told BBC Radio Wales that criticism of the Cardiff pitch for the First Test was "ill-informed".
The criticism is completely unfounded Look at how many runs have been scored, Swann told BBC Radio Wales.
Thus far in an enthralling Test match, we have seen 1,027 runs scored and 30 wickets taken in just 3 days of play.
Swann was also quick to praise The SSE SWALEC stadium for it's fantastic atmosphere.
It's a great venue, and the crowd is quite close and they make a lot of noise. There's no restricted views. It's brilliant from a supporters point of view and they reflect that in the support they show for England.
Swann believes that we have seen a traditional Cardiff wicket, branding those who believed the pitch to be doctored as ill-informed.
The three-time Ashes winner also said he doesn't believe this pitch will deteriorate at all.
It won't crumble. Cardiff doesn't crumble... there's footholds to bowl into, there's a bit of spin and a little bit of bounce so it's all about the spinners getting a bit of top spin.
Australia will head into today's play needing 412 to win the First Test, England will begin their search for 10 wickets.
