Winter Talks 2015/2016

The itinerary for the popular talks in the CC4 Museum of Welsh Cricket has been finalised with a full programme of speakers each month from September 2015 through to March 2016.
The programme of Talks is as follows:

Wednesday, September 30th, 2015 at 7.30pm Cricket in Cardiff - A History: Club Archivist and Museum Curator, Andrew Hignell will be outlining the history of cricket in Cardiff and the intriguing relationship with the Marquess of Bute who helped to create the Arms Park and Sophia Gardens as sporting venues, but elsewhere in the Welsh capital, declined to provide land

Wednesday, October 14th, 2015 at 7.30pm An evening with Graham Wagg: Glamorgan's current all-rounder will be reflecting on his playing career with Warwickshire, Derbyshire and now with Glamorgan. He will also reflect on the 2015 season, during which he enjoyed his best-ever summer with bat and ball, including a career-best double-hundred against Surrey at Guildford.

Wednesday, November 11th, 2015 at 7.30pm Remembering Gallipoli: This is a special event, run in conjunction with the British Legion, which will look back to events in Gallipoli in 1915 where many English, Welsh and Australian cricketers lost their lives serving King and Country. The presentation will also look at Cowbridge Cricket Club, who lost four key players during the hostilities in the Dardanelles.

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2015 at 7.30pm The History of the County Championship: prolific cricket writer Stephen Chalke will talk about his latest publication, chronicling the history of the County Championship. During his presentation, Stephen will recall some of the record-breaking events and memorable moments in the inter-county competition. Please note that this talk will take place in the Pro-Copy Lounge.

Wednesday, January 20th, 2016 at 7.30pm Memories of 1997: Members of Glamorgan's Championship-winning team for 1997 will look back on events from the summer when Glamorgan won the county title for the third time in their history, beating Somerset at Taunton to clinch the Championship, as well as recalling the Club's excellent run in the one-day competition which saw them narrowly lose the semi-final at Chelmsford by just one run.

Wednesday, February 17th, 2016 at 7.30pm An Evening with Edward Bevan: the long-serving BBC cricket commentator will spend the evening reflecting on his career for over thirty years as a broadcaster with Radio Wales as well as life on the county circuit, and covering the exploits of Glamorgan's cricketers on England's overseas tours

Wednesday, March 9th, 2016 (TBC) at 7.30pmAn Evening with Jacques Rudolph: Glamorgan's captain will be reflecting on his playing career with Yorkshire, Surrey and South Africa, besides looking back on his first summer leading the Welsh county, as well as looking ahead to the summer of 2016. Please note that this date will be confirmed in the New Year once Glamorgan's pre-season programme has been finalised.

Tickets for Glamorgan members cost £3 in advance or £4 on the door on the night. For non-members, it's £4 in advance or £5 on the door (Price includes complimentary tea and coffee).
