Glamorgan take on Cardiff MCCU tomorrow (Friday) with the two sides facing off in their annual three-day encounter.

Head Coach Matt Maynard has named a 13-man squad for Glamorgan's friendly aginst Cardiff MCCU, with Chris Cooke captaining a side which could feature two Glamorgan debutants.

New signings Charlie Hemphrey and Marnus Labuschagne arrived on Wednesday from Queensland and took part in their first net session with their new teammates this morning.

The friendly against Cardiff MCCU comes on the back of a tour in La Manga, which included three 50-over matches against local rivals Gloucestershire and an intra-squad game.

The fixture against Cardiff MCCU is scheduled to begin at 11am and will round off the club's preparations before they host Northamptonshire on Thursday, 11th April for the start of the Specsavers County Championship.

New signing Charlie Hemphrey was looking forward to the opportunity of making his first appreance for the club against the students and is hoping a good performance will secure a position in the Glamorgan batting order.

“It’s really exciting, it’s something I didn’t ever think would come about a few years ago when I decided to move to Australia, but things have worked out well and its great to have an opportunity to come down here and play for Glamorgan," said Hemphrey.

"To be here to play a County season is really exciting. Everyone wants to play as much cricket as they can, and to play a Shield season the come and play a County season is a great opportunity.

"I see myself in the top order and I need to go about my business the way I do to achieve that. I like to bat time in red ball cricket and hopefully can set the rest of the batting line up to get some big scores”
