Glamorgan name squad for trip to Leicestershire Foxes

Glamorgan selectors have named a 14-man squad for the trip to Grace Road to face Leicestershire Foxes.

Glamorgan, who remain on top of Group B on net run-rate, face fourth-placed Leicestershire away on Sunday, 11 August.

After Gloucestershire beat Nottinghamshire, Glamorgan are guaranteed a Metro Bank One Day Cup Knockout spot. Third in the table would mean an away Quarter-Final, or second in the table would mean a home Quarter-Final on Friday, 16 August. Or top spot would secure a home Semi-Final on Sunday, 18 August.

Coming off an away win against Yorkshire Vikings on Thursday, Leicestershire continue their quest to reach the knockout stage.

Despite a no result at Edgbaston, Glamorgan batted for 18 overs and impressed, scoring 143 runs. Sam Northeast’s knock of 68 off just 39 balls, and contributions from Tom Bevan and Billy Root spearheaded the table-toppers’ scoring rate at 7.90 runs per over.

Colin Ingram returns to the squad, as 17-year-old Tom Norton plays for Glamorgan’s 2nd XI.

Eddie Byrom, Chris Cooke, James Harris, Ben Kellaway and Zain ul Hassan are still working on their returns from injury.

The squad is as follows:

05/ Kiran Carlson (C)
13/ Tom Bevan
88/ Dan Douthwaite
11/ Andy Gorvin
37/ Alex Horton
06/ Henry Hurle
41/ Colin Ingram
35/ Jamie McIlroy
18/ Ben Morris
16/ Sam Northeast
07/ Billy Root
55/ Asa Tribe
28/ Will Smale
64/ Timm van der Gugten
