2021 Sophiaworks event guide

Sophiaworks returns this Friday to Sophia Gardens as the stadium holds its marquee fireworks display for the first time since 2019.

After capacity crowds in both 2018 and 2019, this year's event SOLD OUT in record time and there will be no tickets available at the gates.

We hope everyone who is attending Sophiaworks has a fantastic time - a reminder that those who have booked will have received an email with containing a PDF document with the tickets at the point of purchase.

EVENT TIMINGS

Gates open - 5.30pm
Hospitality - 5.30pm
Display - 7.15pm - 7.45pm
Close - 9.00pm


COVID-19

We do not require Covid passes for this event. A Lateral Flow Test is recommended before you visit the stadium but is not mandatory.

For the safety and comfort of all our visitors, please wear face masks upon your arrival to the stadium, and at any moments moving around the ground. Once seated the wearing of masks is optional.


TRAVEL

There is no public car parking available at the Stadium.

There are a number of independent car parks located throughout the city, visit www.ncp.co.uk/cardiff.

Cardiff Bus services run regularly between Cardiff Central Station and Cathedral Road (adjacent to Sophia Gardens Cardiff) Routes going via Cathedral Road include:

  • Number 25 Circular Service to Llandaff North and North Road
  • Number 62 Service to Llandaff, Danescourt, Pentrebane, Fairwater & Canton.
  • Number 63 service Ffordd Berllan, Central Station, Radyr to Llandaff

ENTERTAINMENT

Former Capital FM presenter, Geraint Hardy will be hosting the evening, while there will be funfair rides and live music on the back lawn. 

After the fireworks display, the ground will remain open until 9.00pm, giving you extra time to enjoy your Sophiaworks experience before you head home.


REFRESHMENTS

A range of vendors, offering a variety of street food and drink will be available from the time the gates open. Vegetarian and vegan options will be available

There are also free water refill points situated in the concourse, so feel free to bring your own bottle/container. 

You are not permitted to bring your own food and drink into the stadium for this event.


WEATHER

The latest weather forecast for Friday evening is dry but cool, so wrap up warm and be prepared!


SAFETY AND SECURITY 

Comprehensive security measures will be in place for all those visiting Sophia Gardens Cardiff and all bags will be searched on entrance. Our stewards will be happy to assist with any queries you may have. If you have any safety or security concerns on the day, please contact your nearest steward who will be happy to assist. Please arrive as early as possible to avoid missing any of the display.
