Bragg Wants Glamorgan Victory Charge

Will Bragg wants Glamorgan to \'go hard\' at Essex in search of victory tomorrow, after his unbeaten century put the Welsh county in charge after Day Three.

Bragg hit 119* and enjoyed century partnerships with Mark Wallace (40) and Chris Cooke (59), as well as an unbeaten stand of 80 with Aneurin Donald (44*) as Glamorgan's batsmen dominated proceedings at The SSE SWALEC.

Earlier in the day, Timm van der Gugten took the final Essex wicket to finish with a first-class-best 5/90 and leave the visitors with a lead of 53 – which was quickly eradicated by Bragg and company.

After the day, Bragg said: "We bowled quite well as a unit yesterday and reaped our rewards. We finished the job quickly this morning and then laid the foundations for the guys in the middle order to express themselves and make a good game of it tomorrow.

"It was quite a flat wicket but also quite an attritional wicket and it was hard to score runs freely."

Bragg's unbeaten 119 came off 250 and featured 12 fours. It was his second County Championship hundred of the season, after making 129 against Derbyshire last month.

He added: "It was one of those days when I had a bit of luck – like you need – and things went my way.

"We built a couple of hundred partnerships for the second and third wickets, which was nice to see, and if we can get a few more runs in the morning and go hard at them for two and a half sessions, it will be a good end to the game."

Bragg needs 11 more runs to score a career-best – a feat he will be targerting tomorrow.

He said: "We've got a mantra in the changing room that if you score a personal best you have to buy a round of drinks, so I'll have to see how much money I've got in the bank I suppose!"

Glamorgan will now look to declare tomorrow morning and aim to bowl Essex out to secure their first victory of the campaign.

Bragg added: "I haven't spoken to the captain or the coach but we're in a pretty stable position from here and we can press a few buttons and go hard at them tomorrow to get a result. If we utliise the new ball they could be three or four wickets down very quickly."

Bragg and Donald will resume Glamorgan's innings on 295/3 tomorrow morning from 11am.
