Head Coach Matt Maynard has named a 14-man squad for our LV= County Championship match against Sussex at Sophia Gardens.
New overseas signing Mitchell Swepson is added to the squad after linking up with his Glamorgan teammates on Friday. The leg-spinner has been added as cover for Michael Neser who is away with the Australia camp for the Ashes.
The only other change to Glamorgan's squad at Durham last time out is that Tom Bevan makes the Championship squad for the first time this season. Colin Ingram is the man that misses out with an achilles injury.
In their last red-ball outing, Glamorgan salvaged a draw at Durham as Chris Cooke scored an unbeaten 134* along with Timm van der Gugten's 52* on the final day to ensure the draw.
The most recent meeting between Glamorgan and Sussex ended in similar fashion, with the Welsh county scoring their second-highest-ever score to bat out for a draw at Hove.
This week's round of fixtures in the County Championship will see the Kookaburra ball in use rather than the Dukes. A trial period for the Kookaburra ball aims to gather data on how it impacts the use of spinners, lower-pace seamers, and the balance between bat and ball.
Glamorgan, although undefeated in the competition, sit 5th in the table, with one win and six draws so far. While their opponents this week, Sussex, are 2nd but just 10 points ahead of the Welsh county at this stage.

"The schedule keeps coming, that's for sure! We're excited, we're still absolutely in that competition so we'll be ready for that.
"The Kookaburra is a bit of a different challenge for us, we're going to have to figure out how to bowl with that pretty quickly.

Head-to-Head - Glamorgan vs Sussex
The two teams met earlier in the season at Hove in a remarkable and high-scoring draw. Having made just 123 in their first innings, they amassed a record 737 in their second, with hundreds from Marnus Labuschagne, Kiran Carlson and Michael Neser. The two Australians are now in their country’s Ashes squad, but Glamorgan have recruited another man who has proudly worn the baggy green as leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson is poised to make his debut in county cricket.
Last summer at Cardiff, Glamorgan beat Sussex by five wickets after Eddie Byrom and Colin Ingram shared a second wicket stand of 328 runs in 90 overs. This was Glamorgan’s first victory at Sophia Gardens since April 1999 when both Simon Jones and Robert Croft each took five-wicket hauls, before a superb 153 from Steve James helped the Welsh county successfully chase a target of 336 on the final day to record a comprehensive victory by six wickets.
However, Sussex were the victors by eight wickets when the two teams met at Cardiff in the opening match of the 2021 Championship season. The contest, staged behind closed doors, was something of a personal triumph for Ollie Robinson, the Sussex seamer, who gave an object lesson in the virtues of line and length, harnessed to an ability to extract late movement. In the process of claiming thirteen wickets, his second innings haul of 9/78 was both a career-best return, and Sussex’s best-ever in Championship cricket against Glamorgan, with Robinson, on the back of this performance and a series of other decent spells, subsequently winning a place in the England Test squad.
