At last week’s Vitality County Championship match between Glamorgan and Leicestershire, Glamorgan County Cricket Club hosted a Former Players' Day, bringing together cricketing legends who have represented Glamorgan over the years.
25 former players including Simon Jones, Matt Maynard, Alan Jones, Hugh Morris and Ossie Wheatley, returned to celebrate the club’s rich history and enduring legacy. The atmosphere was full of nostalgia as the players reminisced about their playing days, relived old memories, and cheered on the current team
Glamorgan’s Chief Executive Officer, Dan Cherry, reflected on the occasion, saying, "It’s a privilege to welcome back so many players from different eras who have contributed to our club's rich history. Their passion and dedication laid the foundation for what Glamorgan is today, and we are proud to see them strengthening their bonds with each other and the club by joining us at Sophia Gardens.’
As the game against Leicestershire unfolded, the presence of these former players highlighted their strong ties with the club and served as a powerful reminder of the legacy that continues to shape Glamorgan in the future
