Glamorgan team up with Tom Maynard Trust

Glamorgan CCC is pleased to announce a unique partnership with the Tom Maynard Trust.
The Club has strong ties with the Tom Maynard Trust and Glamorgan is proud to show their logo on the front of their LV= County Championship shirts, as well as fundraising for the charity throughout the 2014 season.

Hugh Morris, Glamorgan Chief Executive and Director of Cricket, said: Since the formation of the Tom Maynard Trust, the Club and the players have supported it wholeheartedly. Tom will always have a special place in our hearts and this agreement takes our relationship with the Trust to a new level.

We hope that by having the Trust as our shirt partner for this season's Championship it will generate exposure, helping them with their fundraising initiatives and the fantastic work they do to benefit not just cricket, but other sports as well.

Martyn Ryan Chairman of the Tom Maynard Trust said, The Tom Maynard Trust is honoured to have been selected by Glamorgan to appear on their kit in four day cricket. We hope that this will help us to build on everything we have already achieved in our work with young people in cricket, rugby and football.

The Tom Maynard Trust was set up to assist aspiring but disadvantaged cricketers, and other sportspeople, who require support with different aspects of their career development. This can range from bursaries and help with training and education, to financial support for overseas placements and funding for kit and equipment and, either directly or in partnership with other agencies, providing support for raising awareness and rehabilitation programmes within sport.

The Trust has also set up an academy in Tom's name at the Desert Springs complex in Southern Spain. In February this year eleven emerging county cricket professionals benefited from specialist technical and conditioning training, overseen by Tom's father Matthew and supported by high profile names from the world of cricket.

As well as his work with the Trust, Matthew Maynard will return to Glamorgan CCC this year to work with promising young Welsh players.

Matthew said: I'm really excited about my role at Glamorgan and I'm very pleased Glamorgan have decided to support the Trust in such a visible way.

In terms of my role with Glamorgan, I'm pleased that I'll be working with three highly-promising cricketers this year, helping to develop the future young talented Welsh players. I'm not going to be involved in the first or second team and I am really happy with the arrangement, which will keep me free to coach the St Lucia Zouks in the CPL and hopefully some more work for the ECB.

Glamorgan's first LV= County Championship game of the season will be against Surrey at the Kia Oval on Sunday 6th April.
