Head coach David Harrison has named an unchanged 13-man squad for the final of the Royal London Cup against Durham at Trent Bridge tomorrow.
Kiran Carlson will lead the side in our first List A final since 2013 when we were defeated by Nottinghamshire at Lord’s. Only Andrew Salter and Michael Hogan remain in the squad that fell just short eight years ago.
The Welsh county came through a dramatic semi-final encounter with Essex Eagles on Monday to secure a place in the final. Glamorgan chased down 290 to win by five wickets with Joe Cooke the star of the show with a maiden List A five wicket haul and 66 not out from just 56 balls.
Cooke is now the joint leading wicket-taker in the competition with 18 scalps at an average of just 12.
Meanwhile, Durham beat Surrey at Emirates Riverside yesterday in the other semi-final. They overhauled Surrey’s total of 280/8 with five wickets and 15 balls to spare.
In Graham Clark and Alex Lees they have the top two run scorers in the competition with 606 and 547 runs respectively.
View from the camp – David Harrison
"It’s a massive occasion, the guys have been fantastic in the last few weeks and have really performed against good teams up and down the country. Every player in that squad has performed, it was great to finish top of the group, and it’s great for the club and the Welsh public to get through to the final.
"I watched the (semi-final) game against Surrey, they’re a good batting line-up, but we’ll concentrate on what we’re doing. We haven’t over-analysed other teams, we’ll focus on what we do well.
"Nick Selman and Hamish Rutherford are experienced players, and all the guys from three to 11 have chipped in with bat and ball. Joe Cooke has been fantastic after opening the batting in the Championship, to come in and be used as a third or fourth seamer and to have a role at seven, it’s an amazing achievement to be the highest wicket-taker in the country and an amazing innings to get us over the line against Essex.
"Michael Hogan has been an outstanding bowler for this club over a ten-year period, he’s really enjoyed the competition and we’ve used him as a mentor on the field which has been really helpful. Hopefully he’s got one more good performance in him."
