Glamorgan v Essex: Head-to-Head

16 May 2015 | Matches
Essex will be Glamorgan's opponents in their next LV=County Championship match at the SWALEC Stadium, with the four-day contest scheduled to get underway at the Cardiff ground at 11am on Monday, May 18th (Gates open - 10am).
Glamorgan have not beaten Essex in their last ten Championship meetings, drawing seven and losing on three occasions, including last summer when the two sides met at Swansea, with Monty Panesar taking eleven wickets in the game at the St.Helen's ground as the visitors won by 63 runs.

In contrast, the last five games between Glamorgan and Essex at the SWALEC Stadium have all ended in draws, with the game in 2009 seeing the visitor's last pair survive the closing overs amidst much tension and drama as the Glamorgan attack, led by the wily Dean Cosker, pressed for victory.

Essex's last win at Glamorgan's headquarters in Championship cricket in 2006, whilst you have to go back to 1997 for Glamorgan's most recent victory in the four-day competition against Essex in Cardiff when captain Matthew Maynard and Tony Cottey shared a decisive partnership after the home side had lost early wickets on the final day of the contest, with their doughty stand laying the foundations of a seven-wicket victory which maintained Glamorgan's title bid.

Mark Wallace needs 14 further runs to become Glamorgan's first-ever specialist wicket-keeper to score 10,000 first-class runs for the Club and the 24th in all. Dean Cosker is also approaching a personal milestone, needing three wickets to reach an aggregate of 600 wickets in all first-class cricket.
