Glamorgan open their programme in the Royal London One-Day Cup by meeting Gloucestershire, who won the 50-overs competition in 2015, in a day-night contest which is scheduled to start at The SSE SWALEC at 2pm on Monday, June 6th (Gates open - 1pm).
Gloucestershire are the reigning holders of the Royal London One-Day Cup, and the West Country side arrive in Cardiff following Championship victories last week against Worcestershire at New Road plus a victory over Middlesex from the penultimate ball of their NatWest T20 Blast game on Thursday evening at Merchant Taylor’s School, followed by a seven wicket victory over the Kent Spitfires in their Twenty20 match on Friday evening at Beckenham.
By the time Monday’s contest takes place in Cardiff, Gloucestershire will have already opened their defence of the 50-overs title, as they meet Somerset at Taunton on Sunday, June 5th in the first batch of games, with a large crowd anticipated for the West Country derby.
Gloucestershire were victorious in 2013 when they last met Glamorgan in List A cricket with Gloucestershire winning in May at Cardiff by seven runs, and again in August at Bristol, albeit by the slender margin of two wickets. Glamorgan’s most recent List A victory over Gloucestershire came in May 2011 when they won at Cardiff by four wickets after Dean Cosker had claimed 4/30, before opening batsman Gareth Rees had posted an unbeaten 59 to see his side to victory.
